The eastern red bat (Lasiurus borealis) is a medium-sized bat that is heavily furred in auburn to orange-yellow. As a member of the migratory tree bats, the red bat migrates great distances in the spring flying from Central American regions to North America, then returning in the fall. This bat is primarily found in eastern North America, and in Colorado is restricted to the eastern plains. It is a tree-roosting species that can be found in the foliage of deciduous trees, such as cottonwoods and elms along riparian corridors.
